Oxford Test Routes

Route 1

  • Exit the test centre and turn left on JWR.
  • Turn left onto Hollow Way
  • End of the road turn Left, towards Garsington Road.
  • At the Monument Roundabout take the 2nd exit, going ahead.
  • At Cowley junction roundabout take the 4th exit onto A4142 signed posted towards Newbury.
  • Exit left onto Sandy Lane.
  • Mini roundabout turn Right, second exit.
  • At the next mini roundabout, ahead, 2nd exit.
  • At the next mini roundabout Turn right, 2nd exit( Merlin Road ).
  • Turn right onto Knights Road.
  • Turn Left onto Pegasus Road.
  • End of the road, Turn right onto Cuddesdon Way.
  • Turn Left at traffic lights. Onto Watlington Road.
  • Drive towards Cowley junction.
  • At the roundabout, take the 4th exit onto A4142. Sign posted towards A40 London and Headington, Hospitals.
  • Follow the signs for Headington and hospitals.
  • Exit onto Horspath Driftway.
  • At the mini roundabout turn left 1st exit onto Hollow way.
  • Turn left onto James Wolfe Road. The test centre is the 3rd gate on the right. Just before a lamppost.

Route 2. BBL

  • Exit the test centre and turn left on to James wolf Road(JWR).
  • Turn left onto Hollow Way.
  • Turn left onto Cranmer Road.
  • Turn right into Rupert Road.
  • Turn left onto Horspath Road.
  • Turn right onto Wilkins Road.
  • Turn right onto Marshall Road.
  • End of the road turn Left onto Hollow Way.
  • End of the road turn Left onto Gardington Road.
  • At the Monument Roundabout follow the road ahead, 2nd exit.
  • At Cowley junction roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Garsington Road sign posted towards B480 Watlington and BlackBird Leys.
  • Turn right onto Cuddesdon Road.
  • At the end of the road turn right onto BlackBird Leys Road.
  • Ahead at both Mini roundabouts.
  • Turn Left, first exit at the mini roundabout onto Sandy lane.
  • Merge into the A4142 RingRoad. (Take extra care on short fall road and prepare to give way)
  • Littlemore roundabout
  • Turn right taking the 3rd exit towards Iffley. (You must use the right hand lane).
  • Turn right onto Church Cowley Road.
  • Turn right onto Garsington Road then keep left.
  • Turn Left onto Hollow way Road.
  • Turn Right onto James Wolfe Road. Test centre is the 3rd gate on the right near the lamppost.

Route 3

  • Exit the test centre and turn left on to JWR.
  • Turn left onto Hollow Way.
  • End of the road turn Right.
  • Follow signs for city centre. (Sign is behind the bus stop).
  • Turn Left onto Between Towns Road.
  • Mini roundabout ahead.
  • Turn Right onto Rymers lane.
  • Turn left onto Cornwallis Road***
  • Turn left onto Florence park Road.
  • Turn Right onto Church Cowley Road.
  • Turn Left at the traffic lights onto Rose Hill.
  • Littlemore roundabout turn right,
  • 3rd exit towards Reading A4074. Preferably use the middle lane on approach.
  • Exit the DCW on to slip road then take the 2nd exit towrds A4074 at Heyford Hill roundabout.
  • Exit towards science park and Cowley.
  • Turn right at the roundabout taking the 2nd exit, keep right as you exit. Going towards Sandford and Littlemore.
  • Take the 1st exit at mini roundabout, merge on to DCW towards Oxford A4074.
  • At Heyford hill roundabout, use the middle lane and turn right, 2nd exit.
  • Littlemore Roundabout, use the middle or right hand lane to go ahead 2nd exit. A4142
  • Exit at Cowley junction and turn left 1st exit towards Cowley.
  • Monument roundabout, 2nd exit going ahead.
  • Turn right onto Hollow Way.
  • Turn Right onto James Wolfe Road. Test centre is the 3rd gate on the right near the lamppost.

Route 4

  • Exit the Test Centre and turn left onto John Radcliffe Way (JWR).
  • At the end of the road, turn left onto Hollow Way.
  • Turn left onto Cranmer Road.
  • Turn right onto Rupert Road.
  • Turn left onto Horspath Road.
  • Turn right onto Wilkins Road.
  • Turn right onto Marshall Road.
  • At the end of the road, turn left onto Hollow Way.
  • At the end of the road, turn left onto Garsington Road.
  • At the mini-roundabout, follow the road ahead (2nd exit).
  • At Cowley Junction Roundabout, follow the road ahead (2nd exit) towards Watlington (B480) and Blackbird Leys.
  • Turn right onto Cuddesdon Way.
  • Turn right onto Blackbird Leys Road.
  • Continue onto Barns Road.
  • At the end of the road, turn right at the mini-roundabout (2nd exit).
  • At the traffic lights, turn right onto Garsington Road.
  • At the traffic lights, turn left onto Hollow Way.
  • Turn right onto John Radcliffe Way (JWR).
  • Return to the Test Centre.

Route 5

  • Exit the test centre and turn left on to JWR. Turn right onto Hollow Way.
  • At the mini roundabout, 2nd exit.
  • At the traffic light turn left onto the ring road A4142. Towards ring A40 and London.
  • Green road Roundabout, turn right towards London A40E
  • Exit at Forest Hill or islip. **
  • Turn left onto Bayswater Road.
  • Turn right at the mini roundabout onto stowford Road
  • Turn left onto Burchester avenue.
  • Turn left onto Northway.
  • Turn left onto Edgecombe Road.
  • Turn right onto Bayswater Road.
  • Green road Roundabout, 2nd exit A4142 towards Cowley.
  • Turn right towards Headington and hospitals onto Horspath Driftway
  • Mini roundabout turn left taking 1st exit onto Hollow Way.
  • Turn Left onto James Wolfe Road. Test centre is the 3rd gate on the right near the lamppost.

Route 6

  • Exit the test centre and turn left on to JWR. Turn right onto Hollow Way.
  • At the mini roundabout, 2nd exit.
  • At the traffic light turn left onto the ring road A4142. Towards ring road A40/M40.
  • Green road Roundabout, go ahead towards The Midlands and Marston A40W.
  • Follow signs and exit towards Marston/Hospitals.
  • Go towards Headington/ Hospitals.
  • Turn Left onto London rd.
  • ⁠Turn Right onto Windmill Road.
  • Mini roundabout turn right taking the 2nd exit onto Hollow Way.
  • Turn Left onto James Wolfe Road. Test centre is the 3rd gate on the right near the lampost.

Route 7

  • Exit the test centre and turn left on to JWR. Turn right onto Hollow Way.
  • Left at mini roundabout 1st Exit.
  • Turn Right onto Three Fields Road.
  • Turn Left onto Leiden Road.
  • Turn Right onto Atkyns Road and follow around onto Nuffield Road.
  • Turn Left onto Masons Road.
  • Turn Right onto Titup Hall Drive.
  • Turn Left onto Old Road.
  • At the cross roads, turn Right onto Windmill Road.
  • Right onto St Leonard’s Road.
  • Turn Left onto Ramsay Road.
  • Turn right onto London Road.
  • Green Road roundabout take the 4th exit towards Cowley ring road A4142.
  • At Cowley junction, take the 4th exit. Towards Cowley and ARC Oxford.
  • 2nd exit Monument Roundabout.
  • Turn Right at traffic lights onto Hollow Way.
  • ⁠Turn Right onto James Wolfe Road. Test centre is the 3rd gate on the right near the lampost.

Route 8

  • Exit the test centre and turn left onto James Wolfe Road.
  • Turn Left onto Hollow Way.
  • Turn left at the traffic lights.
  • At Monument Roundabout, take the 2nd exit.
  • At Cowley junction, take the 2nd exit onto the B480 Watlington Road.
  • At the Roundabouttake the first exit into B480.
  • Turn left onto Pettiwell.
  • Turn left onto Garsington Road.
  • Turn right at the traffic lights onto Watlington Road.
  • Turn left onto Sandy Lane.
  • Turn Right onto Balfour Road.
  • At the mini roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Barns Road.
  • At the next mini roundabout, take the 2nd exit going ahead.
  • Turn right at the traffic lights onto Between towns Road.
  • Turn left at the next traffic lights onto Hollow Way.
  • Turn right onto James Wolfe Road. The test centre is the 3rd gate on the right near to the lampost.

Route 9

  • ⁠Exit the test centre and turn left on to JWR. Turn Left onto Hollow Way.
  • Turn Left at the end of the road onto Garsington Road.
  • 2nd exit Monument Roundabout going ahead.
  • 2nd exit Cowley Roundabout B480 Watlington.
  • Follow signs towards Reading A4074 onto Grenoble Road.
  • It’s the 1st exit at the next FOUR roundabouts.
  • At the next roundabout go ahead taking the second exit towards “All routes” (Thames Water roundabout).
  • First exit at the next roundabout.
  • First exit at the next roundabout towards Oxford. You must use the right hand lane on approach as immediately after exiting you’ll need to bare right as the road forks.
  • 1st exit mini roundabout and merge onto onto A4074.
  • Heyford Hill Roundabout take the 2nd exit onto A4142.
  • Littlemore Roundabout take 2nd exit towards London and Cowley.
  • Exit the ring road following signs towards Headington Hospitals.
  • 1st exit mini roundabout onto Hollow Way.
  • Turn Left onto James Wolfe Road. Test centre is the 3rd gate on the right near the lampost.

Route 10
